Subscriptions in a deal
Applies to: TreStack Bundles, every plan
Updated: 11 October 2026
- Selling plans: From your subscription app
- Layouts: Checkbox, Link, Horizontal, Vertical
- Discount applies: First order and every renewal
What it needs
TreStack Bundles has no subscriptions of its own. It offers the selling plans that a subscription app has already put on your products, next to the deal's bars, and applies the deal's discount on top. Products without selling plans show no subscription choice on the storefront.
When the product the editor previews has no plans, the editor shows Some products aren't eligible for subscriptions: "Subscription bar will only be shown in products that are eligible for subscription. You can select those products in your subscription app." In the preview the choice then shows greyed out, so you can still style it.
The template Subscription starts from the Buy X, get Y template with Subscriptions turned on.
How it looks
Turn on the Subscriptions section. Its settings:
- Layout: Checkbox, Link, Horizontal or Vertical.
- Position: Above bundle deal bars or Below bundle deal bars, below by default.
- Block title: an optional heading.
- Subscribe title and Subscribe subtitle: "Subscribe & Save
{{selling_plan_discount}}" and "Zero Commitment, Cancel Anytime" by default. - One-time title and One-time subtitle: "One-time purchase" by default.
- Make subscription option selected by default: on by default.
- Show Subscription & One-time prices: each option shows the selected bar's total on that option.
- Hide deal bar prices: with the option above on, the bars drop their own prices and the choice shows them instead.
- Style: title and subtitle colors, and sizes from 6 to 32 px.
Texts a layout has no place for are greyed out and keep their value: Checkbox has no one-time texts, and Link has no subtitles. The variables {{selling_plan}} and {{selling_plan_discount}} fill in the name and saving of the plan the subscribe option stands for. The choice lists the product's plans that the selected bar's variants can be bought on.
Bars and add-ons on a plan
Each bar has Apply selling plan. With it on, that bar is always sold on a plan: the Selling plan you pick, or Default, the product's first plan. While such a bar is selected, the subscription choice is locked to it. On a deal for Selected products, the switch shows only when the previewed product has plans or the switch is already on. An Alternative product bar uses its own product's plans.
A product that Shopify sells only on subscription is always added on a plan.
Bar upsells and checkbox upsells have Enable subscription, on by default: Follow deal subscription puts the add-on on the bar's plan when the shopper subscribes, and Always sell as subscription puts it on a plan every time. Gifts and personalisation fees are never on a plan. A gift with Apply only for subscriptions shows and is free only while the bar is bought on a plan. Free gifts and progressive gifts and Upsells, add-ons and personalisation cover those.
How it is priced
The deal's discount stacks on the selling plan's own price. A plan that takes 10% off and a bar that takes 15% off give both savings: the bar's percentage is taken off the plan price. An Amount off is taken off the plan price the same way. With a Fixed price, the bar's total is shared across its items, and each item then gets its own plan's adjustment.
The deal's Shopify discount applies to one-time and subscription purchases, and on a subscription to every renewal, not only the first order.
Subscribed orders and the share of orders on a subscription show in the Subscribed orders and Subscription rate tiles of Deal analytics. On a deal with Subscriptions on, Smart A/B tests can try another Subscribe title.
Adding subscriptions, in four steps.
Set up plans in your subscription app
Add the products to a selling plan there. The deal can only offer plans that exist.
Turn on Subscriptions
In the deal editor, or start from the Subscription template. Check the preview shows the choice, not the eligibility warning.
Choose the layout and texts
Pick a Layout and Position, write the titles, and decide on Make subscription option selected by default.
Check the cart and renewal
Publish, subscribe on the product page, and check the price in the cart against the plan's own price.
