Going over your plan
Applies to: TreStack Bundles, Starter, Growth and Pro
Updated: 11 October 2026
- Monthly plans: Pay the difference to the plan that covers the period
- Yearly plans: $0.49, $0.42 or $0.28 per started $100 over
- Unlimited: Never over
How the limit is measured
Each plan covers an amount of added revenue per 30-day billing period: Starter $1,000, Growth $5,000, Pro $20,000. Only billable added revenue counts: revenue a deal brought in beyond one item at its regular price, where the deal's own automatic discount priced the lines, converted to USD at each day's European Central Bank reference rate. Discount codes and test orders never count, and nothing counts during the free trial. A store whose currency the European Central Bank does not publish, such as VND, cannot be converted, so it gets no automatic upgrade and no overage. See Added revenue for the full definition.
The admin does not warn you as you approach the limit. On a monthly plan, after the trial, the usage bar on the Plans page shows "Added revenue $X of $Y" for the running period and turns red from 80 percent of the limit. On a yearly plan the Plans page shows the limit but no running total; the Added revenue figure on the Analytics page is a guide, in your store currency, and can be higher than the billed figure because it also counts orders the deal's own discount did not price.
Monthly plans: an automatic upgrade for the period
Every day at 01:00 UTC the app adds up the running period's added revenue. When it passes your plan's limit, the app charges the price difference to the cheapest plan that covers it, as a usage charge on your Shopify bill named, for example, "Automatic upgrade to Growth: added revenue over the Starter limit".
- Your plan does not change. The next period starts on your own plan again, with nothing carried over.
- Deals keep showing. Nothing pauses on a monthly plan for going over.
- One charge per limit passed. If the same period later passes the higher plan's limit too, one more charge covers the next difference.
- There is a ceiling. When you approve a monthly plan, you also approve a usage limit in Shopify: Starter $119.01, Growth $109.01, Pro $79.01. That is the Unlimited price minus your plan's price, so plan plus usage charges never pass $129 in a period.
After an automatic upgrade, the Plans page shows the higher plan as "Next plan" with the note "Your added revenue passed the Starter limit, so the difference to Growth was charged for that billing period. If you upgrade, Growth starts with your next billing period." (with your plan names). Choose "Upgrade now" if you expect to stay above your limit; otherwise do nothing.
Example (Starter monthly, $9.99). On day 12 of a period, added revenue reaches $3,200. Growth covers up to $5,000, so the app charges $19.99 minus $9.99, which is $10.00. On day 25 it reaches $7,500. Pro covers up to $20,000, so the app charges $49.99 minus $19.99, which is $30.00. The period costs $9.99 plus $10.00 plus $30.00, which is $49.99, the price of Pro. The next period starts on Starter again.
Rarely, an upgrade does not fit the usage limit approved in Shopify. The Plans page then shows "Approve a higher usage limit", saying which plan the upgrade needed and the limit it needs. Choose "Approve higher limit" and approve the new limit in Shopify; the upgrade can then be charged.
Yearly plans: an overage per started $100
Yearly plans have no usage charge and never upgrade. Since 10 October 2026, the app bills an overage instead:
- Your year is counted in 30-day periods, starting the day after you chose the plan or, with a trial, the day after the trial ends. No day before 10 October 2026 is counted.
- When a period is over, the added revenue above your plan's limit is billed per started $100: Starter $0.49, Growth $0.42, Pro $0.28. "Started" means any part of $100 counts as a whole one.
- If the amount, plus anything carried from earlier periods, is under $0.50, nothing is charged and it is carried to the next period. A carried amount stays with the plan it came from; it does not move to a new plan.
- Otherwise the app asks Shopify for a one-time charge, named "Overage" with the period's first and last day and a reference number. Every admin page shows an "Approve overage charge" banner; the Plans page says the amount, the period and the date your deals will pause.
- You have 7 days from the first request to approve it. If you do not, your deals pause ("Your bundle deals are paused") until you do. Approving brings them back.
What is owed stays owed if you change plan or cancel: the banner stays, and deals stay paused on a new plan until you approve it. Only uninstalling the app clears it. On a development store the charge is a test charge, and deals never pause for it.
Example (Growth yearly). A period ends with $5,230 of added revenue. That is $230 over the $5,000 limit, which is 3 started hundreds: 3 times $0.42 is $1.26, charged once you approve it.
Example (Starter yearly). One period ends at $1,050: $50 over, 1 started hundred, $0.49. That is under $0.50, so it is carried. The next period ends at $1,020: $0.49 again, plus the $0.49 carried, so the app asks for $0.98.
Example (Pro yearly). A period ends at $20,001: $1 over, which still starts a hundred, so $0.28. It is carried to the next period.
Unlimited
Unlimited covers any amount of added revenue. Monthly Unlimited has no usage limit to approve and yearly Unlimited has no overage, so the plan price is the whole bill.
Handling an overage, in four steps.
Open the Plans page
From the banner's "Review charge" or "Review plan" button, or from the app's navigation. The Plans page shows the one banner that matters most.
Read the banner
"Approve overage charge" on a yearly plan gives the amount, the period and the pause date. "Approve a higher usage limit" on a monthly plan gives the plan and the limit needed.
Approve in Shopify
Choose "Approve overage charge" or "Approve higher limit". Shopify opens its approval page with the amount; approve it there.
Check that the banner is gone
Back in the app, the banner clears once Shopify confirms. If your deals were paused for the overage, they show again without anything else to do.
