Free gifts and progressive gifts

A gift on a bar

Open a bar in Deal bars and choose Add gift, then Single gift. Gifts can be added to quantity break, Buy X, get Y and Product bundle bars, not to Mix & Match or Alternative product bars. Each gift is a section of its own with Move up, Move down and Remove.

Gift sets what it is: Free gift, a product, or Free shipping. Either way the app takes 100% off at checkout, as the editor notes under the field.

A Free gift has these fields:

• Select a product: until you pick one, the gift shows only its text, as a teaser. Variants limits the variants it can be.
• Quantity: items of the gift per set.
• Text and Image: what the bar shows, "+ FREE Gift" by default, with an image size.
• Show original price: shows the gift's regular price, on by default.
• Include in compare-at price: adds the gift's regular price to the bar's crossed-out price, so the saving shown includes it.

Free shipping has Text, Image and Exclude shipping rates over a certain amount. With that on, enter an Amount: rates above it are not made free.

Both kinds have Apply only for subscriptions: the gift shows and is free only while the bar is bought on a subscription. Subscriptions in a deal covers selling plans.

With two or more gifts on a bar, Show multiple free gifts summary when bar is not selected shows a short summary of the bar's gifts while the shopper has another bar selected. Its Summary title is "{{gifts_count}} Free Gifts Included" by default, and Show product images inside summary adds their pictures.

Letting the shopper choose

Add gift, then Multiple gifts selector, offers a choice of gifts. Choose Select products to list up to 20 products, with Variants for each. A selector without products is not shown.

• Max quantity: how many different products the shopper can choose, 2 by default. Each chosen product is one item per set.
• Text before selection and Text after selection: "Choose 2 FREE gifts" and "2 FREE gifts selected" by default.
• Image, Show product photos, Show original price and Include in compare-at price: as for a single gift.
• Apply only for subscriptions: as for a single gift.
• Customize "Select products" modal: the heading, texts, button texts, sizes and colors of the pop-up the shopper chooses in, shared by every selector of the deal.

Only variants in stock can be chosen. At checkout, if the cart holds more of the selector's products than it allows, the cheapest items are the free ones.

Progressive gifts

Progressive gifts belong to the whole deal, not to one bar: they unlock as the shopper selects bigger bars. Turn them on in the Progressive gifts section with Enable progressive gifts. The template Progressive gifts starts with three bars (1, 2 and 3 pack, the last two at 15% off), free shipping and a gift unlocked at the second bar, and a second gift at the third.

• Layout: Horizontal, Vertical, or Deal bar, which shows the gifts inside the selected bar. The first two have a Title and Subtitle.
• Hide gifts until it's unlocked: locked gifts stay out of sight.
• Show labels for locked gifts and Show product image for locked gifts: what a locked gift shows when it is visible.

Choose Add gift for each one, up to 20. Each Gift has its type (Free gift or Free shipping), a product and Quantity for a free gift, and Unlock at: Bar #N and higher, or Bar #N only. The last bar offers only Bar #N. Its texts are Label (FREE), Label crossed out (the regular price), Title (the product's name) and Locked title (Locked). Free shipping has the same rate limit as on a bar, and both have Apply only for subscriptions.

Unlock at counts bars by their position in Deal bars, so moving a bar changes what it unlocks. Deleting bars moves any gift set past the new last bar to that bar. Selecting a Mix & Match or Alternative product bar unlocks nothing.

Gifts in the cart

The widget adds a gift to the cart together with the bar's items. A gift line is free only while the cart still reaches the bar that owns it. For quantity breaks and Buy X, get Y, a gift also stays free when the cart reaches a bigger quantity bar. For a bundle, the bundle must be complete.

If the shopper lowers the quantity below that bar, the gift stays in the cart at its full price: nothing removes it. The same is true when they remove an item from a bundle. Tell shoppers in the gift's text which bar it comes with.

A gift's Quantity is per set. With a gift of 1 on a 2 pack bar and 4 items in the cart, the cart holds 2 sets, so 2 items of the gift are free; a third pays full price.

Free shipping makes every rate free for each shipment that contains the deal's items, or only the rates up to the Amount you set. When a cart earns several free shipping gifts, a gift without a limit wins, and otherwise the highest limit applies.

A gift set to Apply only for subscriptions is free only when every item of its bar in the cart is on a selling plan.
